IVIG (Intravenous Immunoglobulins) is a treatment that involves the administration of immunoglobulins (proteins that help the immune system fight infections) through a vein. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These immunoglobulins are obtained from the blood of more than a thousand healthy donors and are processed to purify and concentrate them in a final product. IVIG is given intravenously (IV), which means it is injected into a vein in your arm. The duration of treatment and the frequency of infusions depend on the condition to be treated and the individual response of each patient. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exact mechanism by which IVIG helps treat systemic inflammation is not yet fully understood, but it is believed that by acting as an immune modulator, it may help suppress abnormal immune response and decrease inflammation. IVIG as a treatment for neuropsychiatric diseases<\/strong> IVIG has been investigated as a possible treatment for a variety of neuropsychiatric conditions, including autism, PANDAS disease (Acute Psychosis Associated with Streptococcal Infection), Stiff Person's disease, and Tourette's disease. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exact mechanism by which IVIG may help these conditions is not yet fully understood, but it is believed that it may have an effect on regulating the immune system and suppress the autoimmune response that contributes to the condition. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
